Sullivan’s Island carries its history openly. Fort Moultrie still anchors the western end, locations are still described by the Station numbers of the trolley line that once crossed the island, and raised cottages with deep porches stand beside carefully designed newer homes. Caring for a house here means respecting both the ocean and the past, and knowing which of the two is doing the damage on a given wall.
Many properties sit within the Town’s historic overlay district, where material changes to a historic exterior require a Certificate of Appropriateness. So we treat original siding, windows and trim as things to preserve. Older wood and brick get low-pressure soft washing, and our painters rely on hand preparation and preservation-friendly exterior painting rather than wholesale replacement.
Inside, island homes are often reworked to bring in light, air and views of the marsh or ocean. Our residential team has completed bathroom and shower remodels on Sullivan’s Island and takes on kitchens and whole-home renovations from the first walk-through to the final punch list, with the island’s character in mind at every step.
