Pressure washing relies on high water pressure, which suits hard surfaces such as concrete and most brick. Soft washing uses low pressure, similar to a garden hose, combined with a cleaning solution that kills mildew and algae. It's the safer choice for painted siding, wood, stucco and roofs, and because it kills growth at the root, the results usually last longer.
For most homes, once a year keeps mildew and algae from taking hold. Houses on the marsh, the Intracoastal Waterway or the beach, and homes beneath heavy tree canopy, may need their shadiest sides cleaned every six to nine months. Pets should stay indoors while we work and until surfaces have been thoroughly rinsed.
